Boy Scouts of America
The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated to provide a program for community organizations, such as St. Francis, that provide effective character building, citizenship, and personal fitness training for youth. Specifically, the BSA endeavors to develop American citizens who are physically, mentally and morally fit; have a high degree of self-reliance as evidenced in such qualities as initiative, courage, and resourcefulness; have personal values based on religious concepts; have the desire and skills to help others; understand the principle of the American social, economic, and governmental systems; are knowledgeable about and take pride in their American heritage and understand our nation’s role in the world; have a keen respect for the basic rights of all people; are prepared to participate in and give leadership to American society.
Adult leaders (both Male and Female) make Scouting possible. Cub Scout leaders provide the program and activities for the boys. In Boy Scouts, the Scouts lead their own program planning activities and scheduling. Adult leaders provide guidance for the youth and support the youth-led programs ensuring safety and funding. Every Scout deserves a trained leader – Boy Scouts provides that adult leader training. A Scout with involved parents get the most from Scouting.
St. Francis fully supports Boy Scouting as Chartered Organization for two Boy Scouts of America units: Cub Scout Pack 777 and Boy Scout Troop 7.
The adventure starts with Cub Scouting, a year round program for Boys 7-10 years old or grades 1-5. The program emphasizes fun along with leadership, community, family, character development, citizenship and personal fitness. Do your best, have fun doing it!
