Young Church Core Team

The 2nd Annual Cat Day will be this summer on Saturday, August 12, 2017. All those who serve as catechists, core team members, or RCIA leaders at our parish or plan to do so next year must attend this day. This important event will include a keynote, training, lunch, prayer, praise and worship, and breakout workshops specific to your ministries.

The most effective catechetical program for adolescents are integrated into a comprehensive program of pastoral ministry for youth that includes catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship. Such programs aim to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today; to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community; and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. — National Directory for Catechesis, p. 201

Young Church is St. Francis’ dynamic middle school and high school youth ministry program. CORE Members play a huge role in this ministry.

CORE Members are adults and high schoolers who help put on the nights, lead small groups, and sometimes are involved with skits, games, planning nights, and giving talks. A CORE Member is a disciple of Christ called into the mission of our parish to preach the Gospel. CORE Members also become part of a community of adults and young adults who are answering this call together.

Core Team Members at St. Francis of Assisi play an integral role in the formation of our youth through participation in our YOUNG CHURCH nights. These nights happen every Sunday (high school) and every Wednesday (middle school) and include prayer, fellowship, games, formation, and small group time.
