An Advent Retreat Led by Fr. Flynn

Saturday, December 2, 2017

11:30 am – ending with 5pm Mass

Come join us as we Prepare a Place for Jesus this Advent season. For “Only when Christ is formed in us will the mystery of Christmas be fulfilled in us.” (CCC 526).  The importance of these four weeks is profound, and yet so easily overshadowed by the hustle and bustle of such a busy season. So, how can we help each other set Advent apart from the immensity of our worldly cares? How can we prepare our homes and our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s birth? This day retreat is an opportunity to join Fr. Flynn on a short, preparatory afternoon preceding the first Sunday of Advent, unpacking and delving into the reality of why we celebrate this particular season of grace with such devotion, faith, and joy, and how we can practically remind ourselves each day of the coming of our child King. We will spend the afternoon preparing our hearts for Christ by examining how we must form our lives in communion with Him.

Our a half-day, parish-wide Prepare a Place Advent Retreat, will be led by our pastor Fr. Flynn and the Department of Catechesis and Evangelization, on Saturday, December 2, 2017. The day will begin at 11:30 am with lunch, and will include talks, breakouts, praise and worship, adoration, and confession. It will end with the Vigil Mass for the 1st Sunday of Advent at 5pm. We encourage participants to bring their Advent wreaths to be blessed at the retreat. The day is geared towards adults but is open to middle schoolers and high schoolers who wanted to attend with their parents.
